Founded by William H. Brownyard in 1950, Brownyard Group has been a pioneer in specialized liability insurance coverage. Beginning with the security industry, Bill Brownyard developed specialized insurance coverage for the security guard industry when he saw that liability coverage tailored to this industry didn't exist. Fifty years later we are the largest insurers of security firms, providing thousands of firms with dependable and competitively priced products and unsurpassed service.

The foundation that William Brownyard built with the niche market of security guards has enabled us to expand our markets to include Pest Control, Private Investigations, Beauty Salons and the Cosmetics Industry. Today, Brownyard Group offers custom-tailored insurance packages including General Liability, Business Auto, Excess and/or Umbrella Coverage, Property, Third Party Fidelity Bonds and Workers' Compensation. Additional specialized coverage is also available.

In 1993, Brownyard Group founded Brownyard Claims Management (BCM). BCM is a loss prevention and full-service insurance claims facility. We are the only insurers to have an in-house claim facility with expertise for the specific lines of business we underwrite. Many insureds and agents/brokers have discovered the numerous advantages of this facility and its automated systems which go beyond the fast, fair claim settlement. One of these advantages is be able to act immediately upon the filing of a claim, rather than having to wait for the paperwork to be routed through the agent, to the program administrator and then on to the insurer. At BCM, the same day a claim is received, an investigator is assigned. BCM is also available to assist clients with contract reviews, hiring and training of employees, as well as provide expert speakers for seminars and meetings.

The most recent Brownyard acquisition was of Beauty Trades Brokerage, a 70 year old, pre-eminent provider of specialized liability coverage for the beauty salon and cosmetics industry. Now called Hairdressers Agency, the group continues its innovative support and service to the industry.

Brownyard Group is well known within the security industry. For many years, our account managers have served on the National Board of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). In addition, the company has annually awarded the commemorative William H. Brownyard Award for Meritorious Service to a deserving security guard. Brownyard account managers are also members of state and local associations for each of the classes of business we insure.
